At approximately 9:12 am on September 21, 2026; Huerfano County Fire Protection District was dispatched to the area of West 8th & Leon Street for a structure fire.

The responding firefighters found the structure engulfed & requested mutual aide from La Veta Fire Protection District
Five firefighters from HCFPD & four firefighters from LVFPD helped put the blaze to rest after fighting the structural fire.
 

HCFPD would like to thank the swift aid of LVFPD and we also thank our firefighters for the quick response of this structure fire.
