God called His beloved child, Jennie C. Guerrero, home on September 20, 2026, from Penrose Hospice in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Jennie was born on February 27, 1938, to Valentin and Juanita Romero, and throughout her life she gave her family the priceless gift of love, faith, comfort, and belonging. To those who knew her best, Jennie was more than a mother, grandmother, relative, and friend—she was a steady source of warmth, prayer, music, kindness, and home.

On June 3, 1956, Jennie married Salvador Guerrero, and together they shared more than 60 years of marriage built on devotion, patience, faith, and love. Their life together became the foundation of a family that will forever be shaped by the values they lived each day. Jennie was preceded in death by her parents, Valentin and Juanita Romero; her husband, Salvador Guerrero; her daughter, Kathleen Martin; her sisters, Neva Oakeley, Mary Benavidez, and Rosemary Barela; her brothers, Joe “Sonny” Romero and Ivan Romero; her brother-in-law, Louie Benavidez; her son-in-law, Edward Martin; her nephew, Flavio Barela; and her nieces, Naomi Benavidez and Donisia Barela.

Jennie leaves behind a family who loved her deeply and will miss her more than words can express: her sons, Ezekiel Guerrero, Isaac (Denise) Guerrero, and Nathan (Kari) Guerrero; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Jose) Fierro, Eunice Pflaumer, Jonathon Guerrero; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, and loved ones. Each of them carries a piece of her with them—in the hymns she played, the meals she prepared, the prayers she offered, and the gentle way she made everyone feel cared for.

Jennie was a devoted member of Emanuel Apostolic Church and was blessed with many brothers and sisters in Christ. Her faith was not only spoken but lived in the way she treated people—with compassion, humility, generosity, and grace. She witnessed to others, welcomed visitors into her home, and showed love through the quiet, everyday acts that meant the most. Around Jennie, people felt seen, fed, prayed for, and loved. She found joy in spending time with her grandchildren, playing the piano, singing hymns with family gathered around the living room, cooking wonderful meals, and making sure everyone who came through her door felt cared for. Her home was a place of music, laughter, prayer, conversation, and comfort.

Jennie found beauty in the simple things: her cherished knickknacks, quiet moments at home, time spent in nature, and days at the ranch with Salvador. She did not need grand things to be happy, because her joy came from faith, family, and the people she loved being near. Her family will remember the sound of her piano, the comfort of her cooking, the strength of her prayers, and the love that seemed to fill every room she was in. Though her presence will be deeply missed, the love she gave so freely will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.

A viewing and evening service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday September 27, 2026, at the Emanuel Apostolic Church in Walsenburg, Colorado. A morning service will also be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m., September 28, 2026, with committal service following afterward at the Walsenburg Masonic Cemetery.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Sangre de Cristo, Penrose Hospital, St. Mary Corwin, Advanced Rehabilitation, and Common Spirit Hospice for their compassionate and professional care. They are also grateful for every prayer, visit, call, and act of kindness shared during this tender time. May God bless the Guerrero family and all who loved Jennie, and may her memory remain a blessing through the faith, music, meals, prayers, and love she leaves behind.
