Fuel Leak Disrupting Morning Commute
Extended Interstate 76 Closure
(Adams County) – On October 6, 2026, at about 7:44 a.m., the Colorado State Patrol responded to Interstate 76 near milepost 2, east of Arvada, for a report of an incident involving a semi and a dump trailer hauling asphalt near Arvada, CO.
The initial investigation shows a semi was entering Interstate 76 on the eastbound on-ramp near Sheridan Blvd when its drive shaft broke, damaging the hydraulic lines and puncturing the diesel fuel saddle tank.
Colorado State Patrol Hazmat is responding to the scene along with local fire personnel to contain and mitigate the fuel spill. No injuries have been reported at this time.
The roadway is closed at the eastbound I-70 and I-76 interchange and the Sheridan Boulevard exit (milepost 2). This will be an extended closure, and there is currently no ETA for reopening. Check COTrip.org for the most up-to-date road closure information.
