Free “Painted Canyon” Presentation Set for October 20 in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Alanna Blu will present “The Painted Canyon,” a free program exploring the life, artwork and legacy of Martin Bowden, on October 20, 2026, at 7 p.m. at Fire Station #19, 2490 Research Parkway, Colorado Springs.

Bowden’s Painted Canyon near Trinidad features an artistic landscape created over nearly 40 years by a self-taught immigrant artist. Blu has spent the past year researching his story through archival newspapers, oral histories, historical photographs, maps, genealogy and community contributions.

Her project brings renewed attention to the canyon through documentation, public outreach and preservation advocacy, connecting descendants, former visitors, historians, archaeologists and art communities.

Admission is free. For more information, visit ColoradoSpringsArcheology.org.
