Tonight, I had the privilege of presenting Sergeant Jonathan Barclay with the Fowler Police Department Meritorious Service Award.

From May through November 2025, Sergeant Barclay served as Fowler’s only police officer. During those seven months, he handled 966 calls for service, all while carrying the responsibility of providing law enforcement services to our community.

Being a police officer is challenging enough with a fully staffed department. Doing it alone for seven months takes a level of dedication and commitment that deserves recognition.

Through it all, Sergeant Barclay continued showing up, answering calls, and serving the people of Fowler.

This award isn’t simply about the number of calls he handled. It’s about his perseverance, professionalism, and willingness to continue serving his community under circumstances that would have tested anyone.

Sergeant Barclay, thank you for everything you’ve done for this department and the Town of Fowler. This recognition is well deserved.
