Glenn Melville Steepleton

Glenn Melville Steepleton was born on November 15, 1923 in Trinidad, Colorado to Fern and Lois Steepleton.  He passed away on June 24, 2023 at the age of 99 years, 7 months at The Lodge, Windcrest Senior Living Community, Highlands Ranch, Colorado.

Glenn’s life story is described by his remarkable memory, curiosity, lifelong learning, determination, honesty, integrity and courage.  He was cherished by many for his compassion, enthusiasm, and abiding interest in his neighbors:  Anyone nearby.    God’s word directed Glenn’s work from early childhood until his last days.  For everyone to have Jesus in their lives was Glenn’s most important priority in his last chapters of his life.

Innumerable people recall Glenn’s kindnesses and friendships through the years.  Glenn served his country in the Marines during WWII.  Glenn was a graduate of Denver University.  He always worked:  As a child selling door to door, delivering for the local pharmacy, creating at the soda fountain.  He learned the Colorado Fuel and Iron Company (CF&I) from the open hearth to the head offices.  Glenn expanded his career into the Colorado Public Expenditure Council, and the Public Service Company of Colorado.  All the way through his career(s), Glenn met and mentored many, many good relationships.  Upon retiring, Glenn and June became travelers.  That unceasing curiosity and desire to learn took them on adventures to many corners of the earth.

In addition to Glenn’s faith journey and his friendships, Glenn’s family with his wife of 75 years, June, ALWAYS prevailed.  Glenn’s every decision hinged on meeting needs, planning for the future and nurturing his flock.   He is respectfully survived by his four children:  Cheryl (Bruce) Roup, Glenna (Virgil) Potts, David (Sue) Steepleton, and Nancy (John) Goodrich.  Also, his beloved grand-, great-, andgreat-great-grandchildren:  Amy (Brent) Clarkson, Becky Roup and Mark Cornay, Andy (Alleah) Pearce, Julia (Erich) Jeske, Jeff (Sarah) Steepleton, Dan (Emily) Steepleton, Lisa (Drew) Repp, Taylor Goodrich and  Alix Knight, Matthew Goodrich;  Rachel Clarkson and Bryan Rockenbach, Megan Clarkson, Hannah (and Lundyn Jenkins, Brandon Kalma and Hadlie Focke,  Jackson Kalma, Samara Pearce and Luciano Varos, Liam Pearce, Blaze Jeske, Stormee Jeske, Rohen Jeske, Carter Steepleton, Laney Steepleton, Payton Steepleton, Paul Steepleton, Lauten Repp, Brady Repp, Taylor Repp; Everleigh Jenkins, Willow Jenkins, and Jonah Jenkins.   In addition, Glenn’s sister, Donna Hernandez, a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends remain to celebrate his life and legacy of Christian discipleship.  

Glenn was preceded by his beloved wife of 75 years, June Rosalie (Cermak) Steepleton, his father and mother, Fern Archer (Lois Hunter) Steepleton, mother and father-in-law Joseph (Ellen Gertrude Herman) Cermak, brother and sister-in law Fern L.S. (Helen) Steepleton, sister and brother-in-law Roxie (Herbert) Thompson, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jack E. (Helen) Cermak, and nephew Jon Cermak. 

A Memorial Service for Glenn will be held at 10:00 a.m.,  July 14, 2023, at Harvey Park Christian Church, 3401 S. Lowell Blvd, Denver, Colorado 80236.  Reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall.  Inurnment at Ft. Logan Cemetary pending.
