Pianist Jason Coleman Brings "Nashville Sound" Legacy to Life to La Junta Concert in Honor of His Grandfather Floyd Cramer

The third community concert of the current season features pianist Jason ‘Floyd’ Coleman. In a piano concert of country and pop classics, he brings new life to the music made famous by his grandfather, Floyd Cramer. Cramer’s style was a cornerstone of the “Nashville sound” of the 1950’s and 1960’s. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His playing style, featuring “slip-notes,” influenced a generation of pianists, and shaped the playing of his grandson, Jason.

In his concert, Jason plays the hits of his grandfather, and tells his story, from humble beginnings to a Hall of Fame recording career in Nashville. With the assistance of video recordings, Jason plays duets with his grandfather. These duets bridge the generations and will take your breath away!

Because the Stafford Theatre is being renovated, Jason will play the grand piano in the First Church of the Nazarene, 1111 W. 10th Street. The concert begins at 7 pm on Thursday, November 14. Community Concert season tickets are $58 for adults. Single tickets for this concert are $20 for adults. Youngsters under the age of 18 have free admission if they accompany an adult.
