Colorado State Troopers Sending DUI Team to Pueblo

Weekend surge enforcement set to stop impaired drivers

(COLO)—The Colorado State Patrol will conduct increased patrols throughout Pueblo County from Friday, December 13, through Sunday morning, December 15, 2024. This operation is focused on deterring impaired driving throughout Pueblo County’s major traffic arteries and feeder roads. While impaired driving will be the focus, any dangerous driving behavior observed or reported will be addressed.

Pueblo County has experienced 78 fatality crashes and 231 crashes where occupants sustained serious bodily injury since 2020. That's 78 families who have been devastated by the loss of a loved one and at least 231 others who have suffered serious trauma, some life-altering. Most of these incidents occurred on Friday and Saturday evenings.

The leading causal factors for these crashes were lane violations involving distracted driving and impaired driving. This special operation is dedicated to stopping impaired driving "in its tracks" to save lives. State troopers will be dedicated to the detection and apprehension of drivers who may be impaired by or otherwise under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or a combination of these substances.

We are asking the public for assistance in reporting suspected impaired drivers. The driver should be avoided by getting out of the way. Then, contact the Colorado State Patrol after you pull over by calling *CSP (*277), 9-1-1, or 719-589-5807. Be prepared to provide the following information: vehicle description, license plate number, location and direction of travel, driver description, and the driving behavior being demonstrated. All emergency calls can be made to 9-1-1.

Participating Agencies:

  • Colorado State Patrol – Statewide DUI Team

  • Colorado State Patrol – Troop 2D (Host Troop)
