Colorado State Trooper's Vehicle Struck on I-70 While Assisting at Crash Scene

Trooper Struck While Attending to Prior Crash

(New Castle, COLO) - At 9:03 a.m. this morning a Colorado State Patrol vehicle was struck from behind while it was stopped blocking the left lane of eastbound I-70, Mile Post 105 (between Rifle and Glenwood Springs) for a previous crash.
The highway was closed until the crash could be relocated off the highway in New Castle. At approximately 10:11 a.m. the highway was reopened. The Colorado State Trooper and the driver of the vehicle who struck her patrol car, reported no injuries.
With weather forecasts predicting ongoing winter conditions, motorists are being reminded to slow their speeds and keep extra space in between vehicles to ensure a safe stopping distance. In addition, drivers need to put distractions away and focus on their primary task of driving.
